About StyleShift
Interactive design education — experienced, not just explained.
What is StyleShift?
StyleShift is an interactive learning environment for graphic design fundamentals. The site teaches color theory, typography, composition, and other design principles by showing how each principle manifests across different style movements.
Every page transforms when you switch styles. The same content, the same structure — but a completely different visual experience. This is how design works in practice: choices create feeling.
Who makes this?
StyleShift is made by Elle Ikävalko and Jari Ikävalko, working together.
Elle contributes visual design direction, illustration, and content review. Jari researches and writes the educational content, designs the interactive demonstrations, and builds the site.
How content is created
Each lesson starts with a design principle or historical movement, researched from authoritative and, where available, primary sources. Learning objectives and interactive demonstrations are planned around that research.
AI tools assist with drafting, translation, and structuring early versions of the material. Every piece of content is then reviewed, fact-checked, and revised by a human before publication. Sources are documented on each lesson page where applicable.
The result is a human-directed learning experience in which AI tools support parts of the production process rather than determine the educational content, visual design, or final published material.
Technology
StyleShift combines interactive education with modern web technology. The site is built on the Angular platform.
